Memorial Day

To Adam, and to all other men and women who have so selflessly sacrificed all that they had:

Thank you. We will never forget.

"Safeguarding the rights of others is the most noble and beautiful end of a human being."

– Kahlil Gibran

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

– John Stuart Mill

"Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

- John 15:13

"All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all"

  1. Katie,

I found your blog on Samantha's sidebar. First, I'm so moved by everything you've written. I know that you loved Adam, so therefore to help the healing process I've written a story just for you on my blog. It is called "From Waning Hopelessly to Waiting Patiently" and is another nugget of my superspiritual wisdom. I know if I were telling you this story in person that you would be giggling so hard you might actually pee in your pants.

    I love you.
